About Manicure

A manicure is a cosmetic beauty treatment for the fingernails and hands.  The word “manicure” comes from Latin, meaning “hand,” and cura meaning “care”.  The treatment consists of filing and shaping of the free edge, cuticle treatment, massaging of the hands and the application of a nail polish.

French polish is very popular and offers a classic look. The tips of the nails are painted white while the rest of the nails are polished in a pink or a suitable nude shade.

After-Care for Manicure

  • Nail polish may be dry to touch in a few minutes but it may not be smudge proof for a few hours.
  • Ensure you wear gloves for washing up and gardening.
  • Do not use your nails as tools. For example using them to open canned food.
  • Always make sure that you file your nails in one direction to create a smooth edge.
  • Use cuticle oil daily. A small amount at night will help keep the skin and nails nourished.
  • Always use a base coat to prevent your nails staining & to protect them. A top coat will make sure polish lasts longer.
  • Use a non-acetone nail polish remover to remove your nail polish.
  • Apply moisturiser to the hands in the morning and at night to avoid roughness and dryness.
  • We advise regular manicures every 4 weeks to keep your nails in tip top condition.
